Really great topic about places to stay in Dahlonega Ga. There is a lot if different place to stay at, the information you show can make it easier to find the best one. I have not taken a vacation in many many years. but when i do i will be looking into going there. Great site and helpful information about visiting Dahlonega.

Hello! Dahlonega is a charming town with lots of fun things to do on your vacation. I hope you have a wonderful time during your stay!

  2. Matiss says:

I loved the article. And I loved how visually dense it was. It kind of made me want to stay in most of those places that you listed. The rating for them also seems to be very good.

Personally, I found the Hall House Hotel to be an extremely exclusive place to stay at. I immediately wondered whether the prices are sky-high for that place. But it turns out they aren’t. I mean I would easily drop those 100 EUR for a night. Definitely worth it. On that note, another one that really caught my eye was the Tumlin House. I mean, a 7-bedroom restored farmhouse sounds like my kind of place to stay. As for that 2-night stay minimum, I wouldn’t want it any less. 🙂

    • Alyce says:

Hi Matiss, Dahlonega is a lovely town, and if you stay near the town square, you’ll have an excellent selection of walkable dining, shopping, and entertainment options too! Enjoy!

This was quite the comprehensive guide to lodging in Dahlonega. I’ll definitely check out this resource when we return to northern GA.

Any waterfall suggestions that would make sense if we based ourselves here and then go exploring for them for the day before coming back?

Are the best self catering options the 2 rentals by owner you’ve identified? Any self catering options for a family of three that wouldn’t require splurging on an entire house?

    Thanks!

    • Alyce says:

Hi Johnny, Amicalola Falls is a beautiful choice for waterfalls. There are other homes available to rent in the area – I recommend browsing VRBO to narrow down your choices to find the perfect place for your family.

My wife and I have been wanting to go on a trip soon and Georgia was not on the list. After reading this great article it is now one of our top picks! There are a lot of quaint, amazing places you have reviewed that we have to choose from. I like you also added some regular hotels at the bottom too. Thanks for the list we can refer to when we finally decide where to go!

    • Alyce says:

Hi Christopher, I’m so happy to hear that North Georgia is on your mind! Each place to stay is unique and the chain hotels are always a great choice for those who prefer a standardized stay experience!

  5. António Mateus says:

    Hello again, Alyce!

On your post about where to stay when vising Helen, I chose the Breathless Waterfront Condo on the Chattahoochee River but now, having to choose one in Dahlonega, I’d go for the Lily Creek Lodge! What do you think? Is it a good choice? I believe my girlfriend would appreciate staying at Mountain Laurel Creek Inn & Spa being a Spa lover … but which would be the best season of the year to travel there?

Thanks a lot for sharing and keep up the good work!

    • Alyce says:

Hi Antonio, I think spending time in the towns of Helen and Dahlonega will make for a great North Georgia vacation! The fall is the most popular season as the changing colors of the leaves put on a beautiful show, but every season has its unique benefits so you can enjoy your trip no matter what time of year!

  6. Michael says:

A wide selection of choices. Looks pretty much adults only type accommodation with lots of age restrictions in most of them. Including being at least 25 to be the primary person making the booking in one of them.

I am sure they are all good but think I would opt for a chain hotel.

    • Alyce says:

Hi Michael, It is true that a lot of the house rentals require an older adult to rent a home, but most are kid-friendly and teenager-friendly as long as an older adult is the primary renter. Of course, a chain hotel should provide a more consistent stay experience so those always make a solid choice. Enjoy!

  7. Kelly says:

I am planning a 5 night stay in Dahlonega next month. I would like to spend 2 nights somewhere downtown and the other 3 somewhere rural where I could step out onto a trail etc. and go exploring. I will not have a vehicle so will be using Mamas taxi service to get from downtown to my rural accommodation. I would also like to check out a winery or two. What places would you recommend? I have been researching for awhile now and your guide has been by far the most helpful!

    • Alyce says:

Hi Kelly, Thanks so much for reading Ga Mountains Guide!

For a great stay in downtown Dahlonega, the boutique hotels either on or near the square are a great option (Hall House Hotel, The Dahlonega Square Hotel & Villas, The Smith House, Old Storehouse Inn, Twenty Seven on Park) as is the Yellow Daisy Bed and Breakfast. You won’t need a car or taxi at those locations to walk to the heart of downtown Dahlonega.

I really love the red wines at Frogtown Cellars and the sparkling wines at Wolf Mountain Vineyards. Wolf Mountain Vineyards also has one of the best views of the vineyards and mountains.

For a rural stay near places to hike, there are a lot of great cabin and house rentals in beautiful locations with close access to trails. This cabin in Suches, GA (near Dahlonega) has room for 8 people and is “steps” from the famous Appalachian Trail.

For a unique hiking stay, click to read more about the Len Foote Hike Inn near Amicalola Falls. This backcountry lodge requires a 5-mile hike to get to the inn!

      I hope this helps!

This is a great website for Dahlonega, GA. It is very inclusive and the menu is easy to follow. You have soooo much information regarding lodging, activities, and sites to visit. I’d like to visit this town one day and the reason being is because you describe it so well. I never heard of it before, but you have intrigued me. The only thing I found hard to find was the location of the town in Georgia. I’d like to see just a small map indicating where in GA the town is located maybe on the home page. I realize there are other maps within the site, but I think it’s important to have it on the home page just for geeks like me. Otherwise, I’ll keep it in mind the next time I am traveling to Georgia. This is an excellent site!

Cedar House Inn and Yurts would be my choice.  So Cool.  I have always wanted to build one and maybe someday I will.  Adults only and no smoking or pets allowed works for me.  Sounds like a great getaway.  I would want to stay for a couple weeks.  I wonder if they have any yurts that are bigger than the one you show?  Maybe if they did not I would rather vacation at the Long Mountain Lodge Bed and Breakfast.  Who knows.  I will for sure be checking out places near Dahloneega Georgia when I go to visit my son.

    • Alyce says:

Hi Connie, An extended vacation in the Cedar House Inn and Yurts sounds fantastic. Plus, a vacation stay in a yurt is a great way to figure out exactly what you want to include when you build your own yurt! Enjoy!!

  10. LineCowley says:

I have never been to Dahlonega, so it was great to find this selection of places to stay. The town looks like a little gem to visit. Although it is a treat to stay in a hotel for a night or two, I prefer self catering accommodation if I go on holiday. So it is good to see that there are houses to rent for the holiday as well.,

My first choice would be Tumlin House, where you are only 2 blocks away from Dahlonega Square. Perfect for a holiday with my sisters and their families.

    • Alyce says:

The Tumlin House would be an excellent choice to give you and your group enough room to stay together under one roof while still being close enough to walk to Dahlonega’s entertainment options. Enjoy!

  11. Fatoumata says:

This was perfect to help find some nice places to spend time with family. I liked the second option the Dahlonega Square hotel and villa because it reminds me of my home country.

If you live in the city flats can be booring so villas are more exciting to live in. I have read many of your articles on Dahlonega and know it will be really amazing to visit.

The nature, culture, and rental houses look amazing and will offer a nice place to spend some quality time with my family in Dahlonega. Thanks for sharing.

    • Alyce says:

Thanks Fatoumata! Dahlonega is a wonderful small town and a great place for family vacations. I hope you find the perfect place to stay!!
