Château Élan Winery & Resort
Nestled in the rolling foothills of the Georgia mountains, Château Élan is styled like a 16th-century French chateau and boasts a vineyard and winery on its 3,500-acre world-class resort. The property has recently completed $25M in renovations — and the fine points of this investment are visible at almost every turn. Enjoy fine food, award-winning wines, contemporary furnishings, and exceptional service in these freshly inspired spaces.
Our Visit to Château Élan Winery & Resort
We checked in at The Inn at Château Élan and were welcomed with a festive glass of Château Élan sparkling wine. The crisp bubbles are the perfect way to start a vacation! The renovated room was fitted with chic details including designer flooring, a pillowtop mattress, and soft embroidered linens. The large bathroom included an oversized soaking tub, a separate shower, and bath & body products from the on-site spa.
From the Inn, it’s a short walk through the vineyards to the main winery building, which includes the wine tasting room and Marc Restaurant & Bar. We took a couple of the socially-distanced seats at the Marc bar and enjoyed conversation with our bartender, Eric. Hand-crafted cocktails offered a nice start as we were guided towards fantastic Château Élan wine selections based on our personal wine preferences. Our favorite wines that night were the Château Élan Brut NV and Château Élan Mameli 2017.
Back at the Inn we wandered across the atrium to catch the late-night scene at Louis’ House of Bourbon. The full bar features a variety of bourbon drinks and has live sports on the TV’s, plus games like pool and shuffleboard. If the weather permits, have your drinks outside by the large fire pit as a great way to finish the evening. A room key is needed to access the firepit and pool area, but it is a beautiful space for hotel guests to enjoy the evening.
The next day started with a hearty breakfast at Versailles. The restaurant is on the ground floor of the Inn and is filled with natural light from the massive glass-topped atrium during the day. It also has a large light sculpture above that is beautifully lit up at night. Start with fresh coffee and orange juice while waiting for your order — and give yourself plenty of time to finish the large portions of breakfast staples. Our waitress, Bobbie Jo, was a 20-year employee of the resort whose enthusiasm and bright attitude made the meal even more special.
At midday, we walked to the winery to meet with Château Élan winemaker Simone Bergese to learn more about the current wine program at Château Élan. The conversation was held in the winery with a backdrop of massive stainless steel tanks and winemaking equipment. Simone spoke with pride about the journey that the wine program has taken since 2013. His dramatic decision to replant the vines was a tremendous undertaking, but one that has paid off in the ability to produce higher quality wines that have helped the winery become the most awarded winery on the East coast.
The most convincing evidence is in the wine tasting room, where you get a more hands-on experience with the wines. We sampled 7 wines from the dry sparkling Brut NV to the intense, fortified Port Riserva with a gourmet cheese and charcuterie plate. We enjoyed learning even more about the Château Élan wines and the winery during our tasting.
To complete our visit to the winery, we enjoyed a fantastic dinner at Marc Restaurant & Bar, Château Élan’s fine dining restaurant. The meal was a delicious treat from start to finish and included fun surprises like strawberries for the sparkling wine, smart wine pairings with each course, and Instagram-worthy presentations. The vineyard views were gorgeous, the food was delicious, and the service was beyond outstanding!

The recently completed renovations make this a great time to visit Château Élan Winery & Resort in the scenic foothills of the Georgia mountains. The chic property combines classic charm and elegance with modern glamour and warm hospitality. Enjoy award-winning wines, vineyard views, resort amenities, along with fine dining and superb service.
A very special and sincere thank you to those we met and talked with at Château Élan. We enjoyed learning about the winery and resort and felt very welcomed thanks to your remarkable service. We enthusiastically recommend each of the places we visited, and are excited to return and try even more of the resort’s great amenities.
Hallo,
A very interesting and mouthwatering place you have presented in this article!
And from the pictures, it really looks stunning and very therapeutic. This is where one should go to release the stresses of modern life!
If Bobbie Jo can work at the restaurant for 20 years and still have a lot of enthusiasm, then this must be one special place!
You mentioned “socially distanced seats”. If you have done a lot of traveling before, do you feel that COVID-19 has significantly impaired the enjoyment of travel, tourism and hospitality, or maybe not?
Warmest regards.
Hello! Chateau Elan is indeed a great place to enjoy a relaxing break from stress.
COVID has definitely had a major impact on travel — two of the most obvious hits to the travel industry have been the cancellation of large conferences and restrictions on international travelers. Businesses who rely on these travelers have been hit very hard.
There does seem to be more interest in travel and vacations that are naturally socially distanced (like hikes in nature, RV rentals, camping, and cabin rentals).
The Georgia Mountains seems to be a great place to spend quality time during holidays. The view of the Chateau Elan Winery and Resort is just so fascinating and breathtaking. Such luxury in one place. Quality money being spent on quality time indeed. The wine collection is just so awesome, so much to drink, as the pocket or budget would permit. Thanks for opening our eyes to the beauty that lies in the Georgia Mountains, the Chateau Elan Winery and Resort to be specific.
Hi Kelvin, Even if you just stop in to the winery for a bit, the fantastic wines are a great reason to visit Chateau Elan. We sampled over 10 wines on our recent trip — and we tried less than half of the varieties available!
As a fan of sight seeing, this was really captivating, it seems like a perfect place to visit with my fiancee, I like their offers. Their ratings are also very high. Went through the reviews and people who have visited really enjoyed their experience, I would like to visit soon too.
I had just asked you a question on where you recommend to stay in the Georgia Mountains on a another page on your site and so I was delighted to find an immediate answer when I saw this description of the Chateau Elan Winery & Resort. Is this location far from the mazes and Uncle Shucks? Mind you, I rather fancy we would end ups spending a lot of time sampling and enjoying and relaxing in the winery. What is their most popular vine? I personally prefer Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, do they have red wine vines? It looks like a lovely resort, irrespective of the wines, I`m very tempted.
Ah, nicely done on all I need to know about this football resort and also about this winery. I think it would be nice for me to go down here to not only enjoy the beautiful wine that they have but also to try to enjoy the great view and also see some nice football too. This is well written and quite explicit too.
BEAUTIFUL and well written!
Thank you Anja – you would love Chateau Elan!!
I have not been there YET, but this winery sounds exceptional, and an overnight stay with a romantic partner would be splendid. The pictures show a luxurious experience awaits our arrival. Thanks Alyce for a well-written and very descriptive article that has me wanting to book a stay in the very near future. Definitely something wonderful to look forward to. Cheers!
Thanks Yvonne! It was very nice to visit the resort with my sweetie and enjoy all the amenities together! I definitely recommend it!! 🙂
Hello, I have been to some very good and well managed wineries so far. I can boldly say I have tasted some of the best wines in many places. However, there is still a list of places I’ll like to explore and that was what brought me to your page. Chateau Elan is a brand that I have heard a long list of good things about. I was doing more research and it’s great to see all the recent renovations to the vines and the resort. I’m looking forward to visiting and seeing everything in person! Cheers
Lawson, the resort is amazing and I think you will easily find something you love within their large selection of wines!
Wow! This sounds great. Thank you very much for the article about modern luxury at chateau elan winery and resort. My parents have a grape plantation in the village, so I became a fan of good wine because of them. It is a lucrative business on the one hand and on the other it is a beautiful hobby that allows hedonism for body and soul. The resort looks beautiful and I’m sure it would be great to visit it and spend a vacation there. Can you recommend me some wine you liked the most?
Hi Jelena, it sounds like you have a lot of great experience with wine! How fun!!
My favorite wines are the big, bold, red wines like Super Tuscan blends. If you also like these types of wines, I’d recommend that you try my favorite Chateau Elan red wine, the Chateau Elan Mameli 2017.
Cheers!
This would be a heavenly place to visit. My husband really enjoys his fine wines and i love luxury accommodation and going to the spa. Chateau Elan fits the bill for both. If we are ever in Georgia it would be a great place to spend a relaxing weekend. thank you very much for putting this on the map for me.
Hi Lisa, Chateau Elan has a very convenient location to both the city of Atlanta and the Georgia mountains. I hope you are able to visit and enjoy a relaxing weekend getaway very soon!
Good heavens! This is beauty and definitely a worthy place to explore. Though I have never heard of it before but going by all I have read here, I really value having it so close by. Thank you so much for sharing this here with us. – I appreciate the detail and images you have shared. This chateau elan winery resort is definitely class at peak.
Hi DarmiMaddie, It really is a great treat to be able to enjoy such a wonderful escape to the foothills of the Georgia mountains while still staying so close to home! Cheers!!
Hello there, thanks a lot for sharing this wonderful piece of information about Chateau Elan’s recent changes. I must say I really enjoyed going through your review and learning more about the winery and resort. I would one day love to go on a vacation to this beautiful place, it sure does sound fun and historical from the way you described it. Thanks for sharing.
Chateau Elan does have a lot of different things to offer and makes a great place for a vacation. It’s also nice that the town of Braselton has taken care of it’s historic buildings in the heart of the walkable downtown district. I hope you are able to make it for a visit soon!
Hello there! Thanks for dropping this article on the modern luxury at chateau elan winery and resort. I’ve gone through the article and I must say it’s really detailed and highly informative. I’m a lover of wine and I’m not sure there’s any wine lover who haven’t heard of chateau elan resort. Though I’ve not been there but I’ve heard stories. This article however gives me deeper insight of the resort. The pictures I’ve seen shows that the place is filled with aesthetics added with the best wines. What’s your best wine?
Hi Sophie, Chateau Elan is better than ever after the recent renovations. My favorite white wine was the Brut NV and my favorite red was the Mameli. I’m sure you will be able to find something there that you will love.
