What would great Georgia mountain weather be without an opportunity to get out and enjoy the fresh air from a boat ride? Even if you don’t currently own a boat (or don’t want to pilot one), these local mountain lake rental shops make it easy to rent a boat for a fun day on the water with family and friends!
There are a handful of larger lakes and a larger number of smaller lakes in the Georgia mountains. You will find the most rental options on the larger mountain lakes like Nottely Lake and Lake Chatuge.

Watercraft & Boat Rentals in the Georgia Mountains
For anyone who doesn’t want the trouble of keeping up with their own boat, these options to rent a boat can be the perfect solution to getting some time in on the water.
There are generally a handful of main types of boat rentals available: skiing / wakeboarding boats, fishing boats, pontoons / tritoons, jet skis, and non-motorized boats (e.g. canoes, kayaks). The best type of boat for you will depend on what activites you want to enjoy and how many people (or pets) will be in your group.
For a personal experience on the water, consider a jet ski that can seat 1 – 3 people. This is a fun way to get wet as you quickly jet around the lake. For something more relaxing (and much more economical), rent a canoe or kayak and use your own strength to paddle across the water.
For a day spent with a bigger group, choose a larger boat that has room for everyone. Skiing and wakeboarding boats can hold about 6 people on average, while some of the pontoon boats are large enough to accomodate 20+ people!
Consider the inventory at each rental shop as the types and sizes of rental boats available can vary a lot from one shop to the next.
Keep in mind that some businesses are seasonal and may only be open during the Summer season.

Where are you planning your next North Georgia mountain boating adventure?
Well looks like it’s time to hurry on to Georgia! Thanks for putting together this article that gives me great options to take the family for a nice day on the lake, I personally am looking forward to the jet skiing I have never had the chance to try it out, however with the options on this page it is a must to go!
Again thank you for giving great options for a great time!
Mark
Hi Mark, Jet skiing is definitely a lot of fun and very easy to learn. The lakes are a wonderful place to take them out in the wide open spaces.
Hi, Alyce.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on boat and watercraft rentals in Georgia Mountains. This place seems to be a heaven of lakes with a vast option to choose from. As you suggested, the larger lakes will be better to have multiple options to choose the rentals. With more options there is better competition by the service providers which is definitely good for us.
Warm Regards,
Gaurav Gaur
Hi Gaurav, A little competition can definitely have advantages in terms of boat options available and costs! I hope you have a fantastic trip on one of the beautiful mountain lakes!!
The word That comes to mind here is AMAZING! This is the most professional site I have seen since I started auditing sites. I honestly do not know how to rate this perfect or almost perfect site. I wish I had something I could offer you that you could use or consider. I read thorough your services and products, the map sites, the balloon trips and magic carpet rides, and on and on ITS AMAZING!!! IN a great way. Your site is memorizing. This was a huge project you took on and wow what work. This was not done in a few minutes, WOW! OH, MY GOODNESS. This is just terrific. I am not here to butter you up either. I am very transparent, and I have even been slapped for being very honest. Love transparency. I love it when people are very honest and tell me what they see as a weakness in my site. I love it because it leads to a better site, and I tell you I adore people that have given me honest insight. Now my site is getting better and better due to wonderful constructive criticism. Your site is like PERFECT. I don’t know what to add to it. The content is smooth, well thought out, and easy to follow. There is a purpose in all your content and links. The only thing I did not see was an Affiliate Disclosure. Maybe I just missed it. Whoops wait there it is at the base of your footer. Okay wow A+++ Excellent—-keep up the terrific work. This is exemplary. WOW!!! and double WOWSERS. I wish you had the time to help me—lol.
God bless you all
Audrey J.
Well thank you Audrey! It’s a labor of love to be able to share these wonderful places with the world!!
Thank you for this very informative post. I was not very familiar with the Georgia mountains and I very much appreciate these details. I think from your review, Capt’n Joe’s lake adventure is a good place for spending a sunny day, tour of beautiful lake blue ridge and stripper fish. What is the cost for Capt’n Joe’s lake adventure fishing tour per month?
Hi Shimba, The Capt’n Joe’s fishing tour is available for half or full days and starts at $300. What a great way to relax on the water!
Great website, we just moved to Chattanooga been here just over a month and we were looking for somewhere to go and get away for a weekend and we definitely are going to check in on the places you have here on this site. we love going to lakes and fishing Lake Burton looks like a fun place. Is there any of these that we can camp out at? We love camping so that’s why I am asking. Do you have a favorite to recommend to us? With your detailed descriptions,we will definitely be using your website to plan our weekend get-a-ways. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.
Hi Zach, There are a lot of great campsites in the Georgia mountains, but if you’re also renting a boat, I’d recommend that you stay at a campsite that is near the lake where you’ll be boating. GA Mountain Campground is on Lake Chatuge in Hiawassee and is also close to a public beach area.
