This post is a treasure trove of valuable information for anyone who’s planning on taking a trip to the Georgia mountains and craves some time on the water. The comprehensiveness of the marina and boat rental options, from Blue Ridge Lake to Lake Burton, truly offers a great range for all boating enthusiasts. I especially appreciate the emphasis on pet-friendly options for those who don’t want to leave their four-legged family members behind. It’s nice to see that boat rentals are not limited to just the summer, offering some flexibility for visitors. And the maps provided are very helpful for first-time visitors or even those who aren’t familiar with all the lake locations. The details about each marina, like Blue Ridge Marina’s specialty cocktails or Anchorage Boat Dock’s lakeside restaurant, make planning a day trip that much easier. This post really emphasizes that whether you prefer a small boat or a larger pontoon, there’s something for everyone in North Georgia.

Thanks, John! With summer officially here, it’s a great time to take a boat out on one of North Georgia’s scenic lakes!

Boat rental is an excellent way to diversity your stay in the mountains. Instead of hiking, you can also take a boat to visit the surroundings in another way! I’m always amazed to see that you can do so many things when you visit the mountains as it is deeply spiritual. It’s amazing. Thank you for this valuable information, I’ll come back to your page often as I plan my visit to the GA mountains!

Georgia looks so beautiful. I would love to visit there someday, and take one of these boat rental trips. I enjoy boat rides on a lake. When I lived in Stockton, Ca I knew someone who owned a boat. We would take boat rides on the Delta, super fun. I wouldn’t get on one in the ocean though.

    • Alyce says:

Hello, boating around on North Georgia lakes does require some navigational and boating skills, but it should definitely be easier than going out in the ocean with the large surf and changing currents. I hope you are able to visit soon and enjoy this fun activity!

I live across the pond over in the UK and have never been to the United States before. From what I see, Georgia looks an incredible place to visit, and beautiful too. Boating to me is something that I have been doing in Poland (my wife is Polish), and it’s a great experience, fishing, cruising, family trips, etc create lasting memories. When I finally do manage to come to the US for a trip, I will be using this site as a great reference point for boat hire.Thank you.

    • Alyce says:

Hi Oliver, thanks for checking out some of the fun things North Georgia offers! Boating around on the scenic lakes during the summer is certainly a great way to enjoy the day and create memories that will last a lifetime!!

My imagination just went wild when I was reading this article. I could feel the freshness and the relaxing effect of water around me. You have given us a beautiful variety of choices and this will come in very handy when we are ready to reserve a vacation boat in the mountains!

    • Alyce says:

Hi Bogadi, I’m so glad to hear that you found North Georgia boat rentals that will work for you and your family! Have a great trip!

This looks like an awesome way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Or even a sunset cruise down the river with a glass of champagne.

I would like to visit Lake Nottely, as we had friends who went there and are still talking about how beautiful it is out there. I am glad to see that pets are welcome and that they have non-motorized boats too, as I enjoy canoeing.

    • Alyce says:

Hi Michel, It’s nice to have so many options for boat rentals on the North Georgia waters. If you prefer to let someone else do the driving, you could also consider a unique boat tour!

Hi Alice am very fascinated with this boat rental article, even though I have never been to Georgia, I will put this on my bucket list!  It is so much fun renting a boat for a day or two, lovely information to provide most or all the available rental outlet where you can get boats to rent. I have found the information very helpful and thank you very much!

Thanks for this great article. Living in Scotland here, I’ve never yet been to that side of the pond, but I’ve always said that if i do, the Georgia is definitely on the list of places to visit. However, boating is something I’ve never considered for this part of the world, so this has been educational. Hopefully some day soon i will participate.

  9. LineCowley says:

Boat rental in Georgia simply looks amazing. i have never been to Georgia, but spending the day on a boat and exploring an area, is simply wonderful.

Does one need a skippers licence when you rent a boat in Georgia? is there a minimum age for somebody to be able to rent a boat? Does one get a better rate if you rent the boat for more than a day?

    • Alyce says:

I hope you are able to visit us in North Georgia one day soon and see for yourself what all of this talk is about! 🙂

Each boat rental place has its own policies about who can rent a boat, but the legal age to rent a boat in Georgia is 16. Additional age requirements and restrictions for boat drivers depend on the size and power of the watercraft

As laws can change over time, it’s best to review the most current information on the Georgia DNR website at: gadnrle.org/boat-operation

Most places do offer better rates for longer rentals, so keep that in mind as you plan your trip!

Hey, thanks for the article – a lot of valuable information here, and it’s always nice to have a good resource that allows you to skip all the fluff & quickly compare the most pertinent information to find a place that best needs your needs! I haven’t been out to Georgia myself yet, but have visited several similar places in Virginia and Tennessee – I’ll have to add these to my list! Spending all day cruising up and down a lake, playing in the water, fishing, and just relaxing is a blast.

    • Alyce says:

Hello! There are some beautiful places in Virginia and Tennessee that remind me a lot of the North Georgia mountains. It’s awesome how the blue ridges of the Appalachian mountains are amazing to experience from Georgia all the way to Maine!

I definitely love the chance to go out on the lake on a boat — it’s somehow both an exciting way to spend the day and an amazing way to relax too!

  11. Nina says:

I haven’t been to Georgia yet, but I imagine it’s a wonderful experience to spend a day on a boat on one of the beautiful lakes because nature and the environment are truly wonderful.
This article is super useful because you have listed many providers of boat rentals on different lakes, I guess these are the larger lakes you mention? (Blue Ridge Lake, Lake Burton, Lake Chatuge?).
Definitely a good idea for anyone who loves nature and lakes.
    Friendly greeting,
    Nina

    • Alyce says:

Hi Nina, Those are 3 of the biggest North Georgia lakes and each one makes a great choice for spending a day on the lake!

  12. Mike says:

Hello there! I think the only time I’ve ever been to Georgia was for a transition flight for a couple hours at the airport. That is pretty much my experience in Georgia. I knew there was more to it but I never really took the time to explore. This post has definitely done just that. I didn’t realize there were so many activities to do in this state. The fishing trips you suggested was one that definitely caught my eye. The boating activities definitely looks like a fun experience too. Thanks for creating this.

    • Alyce says:

Hi Mike, I’m not surprised to hear that you have flown through Georgia! The Atlanta airport is not only a hub for Delta Air Lines but also the busiest passenger airport in the world.

The Georgia mountains are only about 90 miles from the Atlanta airport, so it’s an easy excursion for anyone who wants to get out of the city for fresher air and a day on a boat at a North Georgia lake. 🙂

  13. Mark says:

Well looks like it’s time to hurry on to Georgia! Thanks for putting together this article that gives me great options to take the family for a nice day on the lake, I personally am looking forward to the jet skiing I have never had the chance to try it out, however with the options on this page it is a must to go!

Again thank you for giving great options for a great time!

    Mark

    • Alyce says:

Hi Mark, Jet skiing is definitely a lot of fun and very easy to learn. The lakes are a wonderful place to take them out in the wide open spaces.

  14. Gaurav Gaur says:

    Hi, Alyce.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on boat and watercraft rentals in Georgia Mountains. This place seems to be a heaven of lakes with a vast option to choose from. As you suggested, the larger lakes will be better to have multiple options to choose the rentals. With more options there is better competition by the service providers which is definitely good for us.
    Warm Regards,
    Gaurav Gaur

    • Alyce says:

Hi Gaurav, A little competition can definitely have advantages in terms of boat options available and costs! I hope you have a fantastic trip on one of the beautiful mountain lakes!!

The word That comes to mind here is AMAZING! This is the most professional site I have seen since I started auditing sites. I honestly do not know how to rate this perfect or almost perfect site. I wish I had something I could offer you that you could use or consider. I read thorough your services and products, the map sites, the balloon trips and magic carpet rides, and on and on ITS AMAZING!!! IN a great way. Your site is memorizing. This was a huge project you took on and wow what work. This was not done in a few minutes, WOW! OH, MY GOODNESS. This is just terrific. I am not here to butter you up either. I am very transparent, and I have even been slapped for being very honest. Love transparency. I love it when people are very honest and tell me what they see as a weakness in my site. I love it because it leads to a better site, and I tell you I adore people that have given me honest insight. Now my site is getting better and better due to wonderful constructive criticism. Your site is like PERFECT. I don’t know what to add to it. The content is smooth, well thought out, and easy to follow. There is a purpose in all your content and links. The only thing I did not see was an Affiliate Disclosure. Maybe I just missed it. Whoops wait there it is at the base of your footer. Okay wow A+++ Excellent—-keep up the terrific work. Thank you for this very informative post. I was not very familiar with the Georgia mountains and I very much appreciate these details. I think from your review, Capt’n Joe’s lake adventure is a good place for spending a sunny day, tour of beautiful lake blue ridge and stripper fish. What is the cost for Capt’n Joe’s lake adventure fishing tour per month?

    • Alyce says:

Hi Shimba, The Capt’n Joe’s fishing tour is available for half or full days and starts at $300. What a great way to relax on the water!

Great website, we just moved to Chattanooga been here just over a month and we were looking for somewhere to go and get away for a weekend and we definitely are going to check in on the places you have here on this site. we love going to lakes and fishing Lake Burton looks like a fun place. Is there any of these that we can camp out at? We love camping so that’s why I am asking. Do you have a favorite to recommend to us?  With your detailed descriptions,we will definitely be using your website to plan our weekend get-a-ways. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

    • Alyce says:

Hi Zach, There are a lot of great campsites in the Georgia mountains, but if you’re also renting a boat, I’d recommend that you stay at a campsite that is near the lake where you’ll be boating. GA Mountain Campground is on Lake Chatuge in Hiawassee and is also close to a public beach area.
