Etowah Meadery: Honey Wine Tasting in Dahlonega
🍯 Etowah Meadery brings honey wine to a cozy Dahlonega tasting room, where you can compare flavors or settle in with a glass. Wood accents, leather seating, and couches give the space a rustic-chic feel, while seats at the bar put you close to the people pouring the drinks. 🐝
We’ve enjoyed Etowah over several visits, including two recent visits to the new Highway 52 East location. Comparing flights and chatting at the bar helped us get to know the current mead selection, alongside the Etowah-made grape wines. 🍷

Flights offer a way to compare flavors, while bottles and cans are available to take home once you find something you enjoy. 🍾

🛋️ What to Expect at Etowah Meadery
The room feels cozy without being formal. Couches and leather chairs sit alongside wooden tables, with warm brown tones and rustic details throughout. There’s a small selection of snacks for sale, and the honeycomb-shaped display behind the bar keeps the honey-wine theme in view. 🍯

Sitting at the bar gave us a chance to chat with owners about the business’s journey. Getting the new location up and running had taken time, and the conversation gave us a glimpse of the work behind the restart. The hosts were welcoming and happy to talk through the meads, adding to the relaxed feel of our visits. 💬
The seating extends to a covered porch and outdoor picnic tables. During a recent Friday afternoon visit, the garage-style opening beside the bar was open, and the steady sound of a busier-than-usual intersection out front was noticeable. 🚗

Beyond the drinks, Etowah sells 10 types of honey and has a honey sampling station for comparing flavors. 🍯
If you remember the former Etowah Meadery and Dahlonega Brewery location, Etowah has stepped away from the beer business. Some familiar mead flavors have carried over, along with more honey-wine options and Etowah-made grape wines. You may still notice Dahlonega Brewery logos, “BEER” printed on their stickers, or signs carrying both brands. Those remnants of the earlier branding do not describe the current drink selection. 🍷
🍯 Honey Wines and Etowah-Made Wines
Mead is made by fermenting honey, often with fruit or spices added for different flavors. Etowah offers several styles, so tell the person pouring what you usually enjoy and ask where to begin. A honey-based drink does not automatically mean a very sweet drink. 🐝
For other honey-wine stops to compare, browse our guide to local meads in North Georgia. 🍯
The two-sided printed menu has detailed descriptions of ingredients and flavors and shares that Etowah’s meads are the “Southeast’s most award-winning meads.” 🍯
All of the menu’s meads and wines can be selected for your custom flight. You can also purchase an individual glass or can to enjoy on site, or buy bottles for a group or to take home. Select bottles can be refilled at a discount; ask which bottles qualify when ordering. 🍾

The cooler also held cans of Etowah mead and bottles of sparkling mead, with nonalcoholic choices including Coca-Cola-brand sodas, honey-sweetened sodas, Clearly Canadian canned drinks, and water. Ask what is stocked when you visit. 🥤

🥂 Tastings and Flights at Etowah Meadery
Choose an individual taste or compare your picks in a six-pour flight. Etowah-made grape wines can also be selected for flights. The tasting menu offers these formats: 🍯
On our visits, we often start with a shared flight, then choose a glass or bottle once we’ve found something we like. Check the tasting-room menu for current selections, serving sizes, and prices when ordering. 🍾
After asking whether I had found any favorites, the person serving us offered two extra tastes. It was a thoughtful touch during our visit. 💛
