Corn Mazes in North Georgia

In the North Georgia mountains, a corn maze brings you close enough to the harvest to see the ears still growing on the stalks, 🌽 with tall rows of corn turning a walk into a puzzle. Choose a large maze for an afternoon of map-reading and wrong turns, a shorter farm outing with children, or an after-dark adventure with flashlights and a few scares.👻

Choose the Best North Georgia Maze for Your Group 🌽

Start with who is coming, which day you can visit, and whether you want a puzzle, farm play, or an evening adventure. These differences can help narrow the choices:

  • 📆 Open daily: Uncle Shuck’s and Jaemor have daily October hours; Hillside and Yahoo Farm offer daily maze visits during the fall season. Hours and extras vary by day, so check the cards below before planning a weekday visit.
  • 🧒 With younger children: Look for Uncle Shuck’s kiddie maze, Yahoo’s kiddie hay maze, or Hillcrest’s Korny Kids Maze (weekend Jubilee only).
  • 🐕 With your dog: Cress Creeks welcomes short-leashed dogs in the maze with a purchased ticket and cleanup bags. At B.J. Reece, leashed dogs are permitted in the orchard but not inside the market or petting zoo area.
  • 🗺️ For adults and map readers: Uncle Shuck’s two large mazes offer maps and checkpoints through a 15-acre field. Cress Creeks adds clues to its maze.
  • 🌙 After dark: Choose Yahoo or Jaemor for a flashlight outing, Uncle Shuck’s Dark Rows for a haunted trail, or Skitts’ Bigfoot Hunt for fog and jump scares.
  • 🎟️ For a smaller budget: Yahoo’s daytime maze is $5 with free entry and parking. Hillside’s $8 maze includes a kiddie ice cream or small slushy.

Most of these farm mazes offer a variety of additional fall fun. From petting zoos and hayrides to pumpkin patches and outdoor games, check below to find the perfect option for your group!

Corn Mazes in North Georgia by Area 🍂

Grouping the farms by area helps you plan a full day or a weekend in the mountains. Pair an Ellijay maze with apple picking, a Cleveland maze with Helen-area attractions, or a Jasper-and-Dawsonville stop with a drive toward Amicalola Falls. 🍂

Dawsonville and Jasper Corn Mazes 🌽

Uncle Shuck’s Corn Maze in Dawsonville  👻

🌽 Explore 15 acres of corn mazes (including 2 daytime mazes plus a kids maze), then return on an October Friday or Saturday night for the separate Dark Rows haunted corn trail.🦇

After parking at Uncle Shuck’s, take a look around the free pumpkin patch area or head straight to the ticket booth for your wristband and maze maps. Cross the bridge into the activity area, where two large corn mazes and a kiddie maze share the farm with animals, carnival-style games, and a General Store souvenir shop. Further along is Dark Rows, a separate haunted corn trail that opens on Friday and Saturday nights in October. 🧟

At the maze entrance, choose the 2.5-mile course, the 3.0-mile course, or both. 🗺️ Follow your map through the tall rows of corn stalks, find the checkpoints, and punch your card as you go. Once you’ve found your way out, try the corn cannon (3 shots are included with corn-maze tickets). Or take a break at the covered picnic tables before exploring more of the farm activities.

Uncle Shuck’s is open daily, but some amenities are limited during the week. The General Store offers drinks and souvenirs, but outside food and drinks are not allowed.

Ellijay and Talking Rock Corn Mazes 🍎

Ellijay is best known for apples, but its farms also offer traditional corn mazes, scavenger hunts, sheep-farm experiences, flowers, and plenty of hot cider doughnuts and fried pies. 🥟 Hillcrest adds an orchard maze and a smaller children’s maze to the choices here.

B.J. Reece Orchards in Ellijay 🌽

🍎 New to this guide for 2026, B.J. Reece combines a corn maze scavenger hunt with one of the area’s largest collections of apple orchard activities.

The 2026 farm activities at B.J. Reece Orchards began August 29 and continue daily during September and October. The maze is one part of a much larger orchard outing that also includes apple picking, wagon rides, pig races, cow milking, a petting zoo, slides, an apple cannon, and bakery treats.

This is a great choice for families who want to fill most of a day in one place. There are several ticket options available, but you’ll want to choose the Saturday-Sunday Mega Farm Admission (Do It All) for access to the corn maze scavenger hunt.

🐕 Leashed dogs are welcome in the orchards, but not in the market or petting-zoo area. Weekend traffic along Highway 52 can be heavy during peak apple season, so an earlier arrival leaves more time for the maze and the rest of the farm.

What to Expect Inside a Corn Maze 🗺️

Step between towering corn stalks overhead, and the field of corn becomes a puzzle you can walk through. Follow a promising path, round a corner, and decide which way to go next. Checkpoints give you something to find along the way, while a dead end sends you back to try another turn. 🌽

If your maze comes with a map or checkpoint card, keep it handy as you explore. It helps you track where you’ve been and which stops are still ahead. 🗺️

🧭 “Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”
Lewis Carroll · Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Alice speaking

At Uncle Shuck’s, a view from the bridge helped us appreciate the field’s size. From above the rows, you can see how much ground there is to explore. 👀

An elevated view from the bridge shows branching paths through the broad cornfield at Uncle Shuck’s.

A view from the maze bridge shows how far the cornfield stretches.

Look closely as you follow the paths: ears of corn may still be growing on the stalks. Seeing them beside us was a memorable surprise, and a reminder that the maze may be part of a working cornfield. Uncle Shuck’s management asks guests not to get “corn-victed” for picking the corn! 🌽

  • 👟 Expect farm paths. Grass, dirt, uneven ground, and muddy patches call for shoes you can clean. Spare shoes and socks in the car are handy after rain.
  • 🚻 Use the restroom before entering. Take a bathroom break and sort out drinks before a longer walk. Check outside-food and drink rules first.
  • 🌽 Stay on the marked paths. Cutting between rows damages the maze; leave the ears of corn on their stalks.
  • 🗺️ Ask how the map and games work. Choose whether to find the exit or every checkpoint, and ask for bonus-game instructions before entering.
  • 🧭 Know how to get help or finish early. Ask staff about approved exits, keep children with their adults, and agree on a meeting place if your group separates.
  • 🔦 Check the lighting rules. Yahoo’s Cosmic Cornmaze supplies flashlights, while Uncle Shuck’s Dark Rows prohibits their use.

What to Bring for a Corn Maze Visit 👟

  • 🥾 Shoes with tread: Start with a pair you already own and can clean, but if you also enjoy woodland walks, hiking shoes may be useful beyond maze day
  • 🧦 Spare socks and shoes: Keep an extra pair of quality socks and clean shoes in the car along with a small towel and a plastic bag for muddy footwear
  • 🧢 Sun protection and a light layer: Bring a hat, SPF lip balm and sunscreen, and a layer for cooler fall temperatures
  • 😎 Eyewear: Readers help you see the fine print on the maps (my bifocal reading sunglasses were perfect), and sunglasses protect eyes from glare
  • 🎒 A small hands-free bag: Use a hands-free crossbody bag to keep your phone, the maze map, and essentials in one place
  • 🦟 Insect repellent: Carry bug repellent towelettes and apply when bugs are an issue

North Georgia Corn Maze FAQs 🌽

Planning a visit to a North Georgia corn maze? The experience changes as the season moves along. Early visits may see taller, denser stalks, while later weather can thin the rows and open the sightlines. Rain, wind, farm maintenance, and the maze design also affect the challenge, so no two visits feel exactly the same.

🍂 “But in every walk with Nature one receives far more than he seeks.”
John Muir · Steep Trails

Maps, Time, and Choosing a Maze 🧭

  • 🗺️ Do corn mazes give you a map? Some do. Uncle Shuck’s provides maps at the ticket booth (let staff know if you also need a map for the smaller children’s maze). Other farms use clues or scavenger hunts, so ask how your chosen maze works before entering.
  • ⏱️ How long does a corn maze take? Allow 30 minutes to an hour for each maze, plus extra time to explore the on-site activities. Your pace, wrong turns, and how many checkpoints you want to find will affect the total.
  • 🧩 How do the checkpoint and bonus games work? At Uncle Shuck’s, we used the map to find every checkpoint and punch our card. The animal-and-weapon bonus game was less clear to us. Ask for its instructions at the ticket booth if you want to play, rather than trying to figure it out deep inside the maze.
  • 🧭 What if I need help or want to leave early? Ask staff about shortcuts, exits, and how to request help before entering. We did not notice staff or marked help options inside Uncle Shuck’s during our quiet weekday visit, so we cannot describe its assistance system.
  • 💑 Are corn mazes fun for adults without children? A larger maze can suit adults who enjoy exploring and solving a puzzle together. At Uncle Shuck’s, the maze was our main activity, while most of the extra games felt geared toward children.
  • 📆 Which North Georgia mazes are open during the week? Uncle Shuck’s and Jaemor are open daily in October; Hillside and Yahoo offer daily fall maze visits. Cress Creeks opens Tuesday–Sunday. B.J. Reece’s scavenger hunt and Hillcrest’s mazes are listed in weekend packages; Town Creek’s weekday groups need reservations, and Skitts’ regular fall visits are Friday–Sunday.
  • 🌙 Which mazes have after-dark options? Uncle Shuck’s Dark Rows, Skitts’ Bigfoot Hunt, Yahoo’s Cosmic Cornmaze, and Jaemor’s Late Night at the Farm offer October evening outings. Some include scares; others are flashlight experiences. See the nighttime maze dates above and check the event’s lighting and age rules.
  • 👻 Are the regular mazes haunted at night? Not automatically. Uncle Shuck’s separates its un-haunted regular mazes from Dark Rows. Read each event’s description, especially for fog, jump scares, or age recommendations.
Man punches maze cards beside a numbered map station at Uncle Shuck’s corn maze.

A numbered checkpoint, map, & punch help you track progress at Uncle Shuck’s.

Tickets, Weather, and Farm Facilities 🎟️

  • 🎟️ Do I need to book ahead? It depends on the farm and event. Cress Creeks sells tickets online and in person, while Uncle Shuck’s daytime tickets are available at the gate. Check admission details for your chosen outing, especially for night events.
  • 🌧️ Can I visit after rain? Check local conditions at the farm before driving, even if it isn’t raining now. Earlier rain can leave muddy paths or lead to closures. We had fairly good walking conditions in the field, but still ended up with very muddy shoes, so keep a spare pair in the car.
  • 🍴 Can I bring food and water? Uncle Shuck’s and Cress Creeks prohibit outside food and drink; Jaemor prohibits outside food. Uncle Shuck’s weekday amenities are limited, though its General Store had drinks and snacks. Check your farm’s food options before planning a meal there.
  • 🚻 What are the bathrooms like? Facilities vary by farm; ask about accessible toilets or changing tables if your group needs them. Uncle Shuck’s had portable toilets with handwashing stations outside.
  • 🔁 Can I leave and re-enter? Re-entry depends on the location and ticket. Check the admission details before leaving the maze, taking a break, or heading back to your car.

Children, Dogs, and Accessibility 🐕

  • 🧒 Which mazes have smaller maze options? Uncle Shuck’s (kiddie maze), Yahoo Farm (kiddie hay maze), and Hillcrest (Korny Kids Maze and Apple Tree Maze).
  • 🐕 Are corn mazes dog-friendly? Most mazes do not allow pets, but B.J. Reece welcomes leashed dogs in the orchard (but not in the market or petting-zoo area), and Cress Creeks allows short-leashed dogs in the maze with a purchased ticket.
  • ♿ Can a wheelchair or stroller use the maze? Ask your farm about path width, surface, recent mud, and step-free routes. A bridge or other feature may have stairs, so confirm an alternative route and accessible facilities where needed.

Reading this I can see why John Denver mentions Blue Ridge Mountains in his song Country Roads. I wish I didn’t live so far away, but this could definitely be something I could easily add to my bucket list.

The corn mazes and hot cider doughnuts look just up my alley. The fall maze also looks amazing and this area would be any puzzle lovers dream. Are all these places in quite close proximity to each other, as I see they all offer games of some sort? It would be interesting to make a few days outings out of these and I wonder how many days we would need to book to get through it all?

    • Alyce says:

Hi Michel! The North Georgia corn mazes are spread across several towns, so grouping nearby stops around Ellijay and Talking Rock, Jasper and Dawsonville, or Cleveland and Alto will help keep the driving manageable.

I’d allow two or three days for a handful of favorites, or roughly five to seven days to work through the full list without rushing, depending on farm schedules and how many extra activities you choose. Ellijay would be a tempting starting point for your bucket-list trip, with maze challenges and hot cider doughnuts in the mix!

Cress Creeks farm Corn Maze opens September 25th this 2026 season through November 1st. A great maze coming this year!

  3. pasindu dimanka says:

Many thanks for this valuable and detailed post about corn mazes in north georgia. I have heard that North Georgia is a very beautiful part of the USA, but this corn maze is very interesting. I have never experienced anything like this before. After reading your post, I really wanted to have a similar experience. I think I’ll start with a daytime corn maze instead of the haunted ones at night!

    • Alyce says:

Hi Pasindu! The corn mazes are usually challenging enough to make you feel like you accomplished something when you eventually make it out. They are fun, but you should expect to spend a good amount of time walking through the rows of tall cornstalks. It is a really unique experience though – truly not much else is like it and it’s only available during late summer / early fall. I hope you enjoy it!

  4. Brooke says:

    Hey there!

Corn mazes are so cool! And talk about starting the best season off the right way! Although I love spring and summer, there’s something about Fall after a long dry summer to really get you in the mood for winter.

We have a few corn mazes that happen around October, but I cant help but be creeped out by them! I’ve seen far too many scary movies with corn mazes! haha.

However, you’ve done a great job laying out all the options and times available to visit. I hope some people take advantage of a very season activity and get their families out for some enjoyment.

Have you been through a corn maze before?

    Talk soon,

    -B

    • Alyce says:

Hi Brooke, I have been through a corn maze with my parents and I thought the whole thing was such a neat idea! It was definitely challenging enough to keep things interesting. We had many laughs from all the times and ways we’d find the exact same dead-end spot. I highly recommend this fun fall activity!
