Flyboarding In The Georgia Mountains: Past Experience & Today’s Closest Option

Is flyboarding the next big mode of transportation? Probably not. Even if it’s not quite the jetpacks we wanted for our futures, it may be the closest thing available!

What Is Flyboarding?

So what exactly is flyboarding? Flyboarding is a relatively new activity (invented in 2012), and is loosely defined as “snowboards with pressurized streams of water that propel them into the air”.

Flyboarding is a water sport in which a board is connected to a personal watercraft and uses high‑pressure water jets to lift the rider into the air above the water. 🏄‍♂️ Your feet will be attached to a propulsion apparatus, allowing you to fly high above the water before diving back into the waves like a dolphin! 🐬 Anyone new to the sport should consider taking a flyboarding lesson to get the most out of the experience. With instruction, most beginners can learn to stand, rise a few feet, and practice basic control during a short session.

💦 You will definitely get wet!

Status In The Georgia Mountains

Sadly, flyboarding is not currently offered on the most northern waters in the North Georgia Mountains. Flyboarding was previously available through a couple of local operators (Sunburst Stables and Mountain Wake Flyboarding), but those activities have been discontinued at these locations.

Closest Current Option

😎 If you want to try flyboarding during a North Georgia trip, the nearest practical option is Lanier Jet Ski (7541 Lanier Islands Pkwy, Buford, GA) at Lake Lanier. Lanier Jet Ski offers flyboarding sessions with gear and instruction included; check their current pricing, age limits, and booking details directly on their site.

Lake Lanier can work well as an “on the way there” or “on the way home” stop if you are traveling between metro Atlanta and the Georgia mountains. An easy plan is to book flyboarding at Lake Lanier, then continue north towards cabins, wineries, and hikes. Click to learn more about Flyboarding at Lanier Jet Ski on Lake Lanier.

    HI,

Awesome post!  flyboarding in mountain wake was one of the best memories I have (Groupon made it possible). I had an awesome time,  the coach was a great help, he was understanding and also flexible with the schedule. Flyboarding is 100% fun and I will advise anyone to try it out at Mountain wake.

    Regards
