Good day, I’m pleased to meet you. Well, it’s my first time to come across Habersham Winery though it has been producing wines since 1983 as you outlined. I’m thrilled to know that even though there are no vineyards to roam at this tasting room, you will still be able to sample reds, whites and blends. This is a very interesting piece of writing, thanks for sharing.
Hello Kokontala, Habersham Winery is a popular choice for a wine tasting stop. It is not located on a vineyard, but its proximity to Alpine Helen makes it an easy part of a fun day in town.
Great article on the Habersham Winery. It sounds like a great place to visit. The wine prices are good too and it would be fun to go to the gift shop. If I’m ever out that way to Georgia, I will definitely visit the Habersham Winery. Do they have a wine club?
Hi AlyseS, I am not aware of a wine club at Habersham Winery, but they do offer discounts for higher volume purchases.
Hey there! I have been examining some numbers. This is the oldest and largest wineries in Georgia. About 150 tons of grapes are grown annually in Habersham’s own Mossy Creek and Stonepile vineyards. That’s a lot! These grapes are then used to produces an excess of 15,000 cases of wine per year.
Hi Abel, Thanks for sharing what you’ve learned about the Habersham Winery! This is one of the bigger wineries in North Georgia and it is not uncommon to find these wines stocked in stores across the state and southern region.
I did not know that the state of Georgia produces wine, but they sure have the climate for it. Being a big fan of chardonnay, I would immediately go for the $18 Habersham. Should be a crispy and fresh wine, as it is not fermented in oak barrels. I knew Texas and New York produce wine, but mainly or only for local consumption. Is it the same for Georgian wine? I am missing the wine tasting opportunities where I live and lived before, so when I read this I am very tempted to go somewhere.
Hi Jerry, North Georgia has a large wine industry that includes 2 designated AVAs. It does seem that these wines are more available in local markets than farther away, but the wineries are continually entering international competitions that bring more attention to these local treats!
