Wow!  Helen is really a happening place.  I would love to go there.

Those places on the Chattahoochee River are STUNNING!!!!!  I’m not one for hotels and motels, and large crowds of people.  These places look simply wonderful.  Places to feel really comfortable.  They’re all so close to the river, too.  I love rivers.  How nice to be able to go outside and be right there, on a riverbank.

The Heidi Motel is adorable…so charming.  I love the wind mill!  The thought of staying in a Wind MIll Suite is so cool!  Almost like staying in a lighthouse.  I would love to go there.  It may be a motel, but it doesn’t look like one, or feel like one either, I’m sure.

Thanks so much for this post.  So enlightening!

    xxoo,

    Anna

Many thanks for this post about best places to stay in Helen. I really like to travel a lot, but I have not yet been to Helen. I hope to go there soon and I am thankful for the list of some good places to stop/stay. I love Lost soles of the river. I hope I can find a time to travel when it’s available as it looks perfect for my group!

    • Alyce says:

Hi Pasindu, There is something so relaxing about the sound of a gently moving river – it’s definitely a great location for a vacation rental cabin! I hope you can coordinate with your group and find a fantastic place for your stay! Enjoy!!

I love these choices.  The Chattahoochee Chalet would be my choice if I had a crowd because it’s on the river which looks good for wading while the rest of us wave to them from the deck!  If it were only a few people, I would probably pick the Castle Inn for its unique features and location right in the center of town.  Either one looks like a great vacation!

    • Alyce says:

Hi Cynthia, It’s definitely smart to consider the size of your group when reserving your stays in Helen GA. I love cabins for groups of 4 or more but hotels are also great for overnight stops!

Hi Page, Helen is a small town, and many of the people in nearby towns of Atlanta and Greenville aren’t familiar with it yet either. I’m glad you enjoyed learning a little more about the town. It’s lovely all year long, but it’s especially festive during Oktoberfest (happening now!).

So Alyce! This I some really informative list of Places. I have been to only on from the many listed on this article.  The Fairfield Inn & Suite. They took COVID seriously and kept the space ultra clean. The breakfast was nice with lots of variety. We were surprised since many hotels eliminated the buffet style breakfast, in the common room. There were fresh fruits, yogurts, eggs and sausage etc. I am glad I came across this Article, Now I got a few selected to try out.

    • Alyce says:

Thanks for the info Vanabell! It’s very comforting to know that guest and staff safety was taken seriously during your trip to The Fairfield Inn & Suites in Helen!

As I read through you review on Helen, I cannot take my off the gorgeous accommodation although they seams a lot expensive with the various condition but I must say that this are places that can take your mind off the haustle of the day to day. From Helen chalet sitting on the river to Chattahoochee, all are good places to help focus and keep your mind relaxed.

    • Alyce says:

Hi Parameter, Any time of year is great time to visit Helen GA, but the prices are likely to be the highest on holiday weekends and during Helen’s Oktoberfest from mid-September to early November. If your travel dates are flexible, you should be able to find lower nightly rates for travel in the off seasons. Good luck!

  8. Nina says:

I’ve traveled a lot on the East coast of the US but never really explored the western part of the state. It looks beautiful. Your website is very thorough and offers tons of information if you are visiting in the area. Helen, Georgia looks like a very nice place to visit. I’ll have to remember this website when I plan my next trip in that area.

    • Alyce says:

Hi Nina, Georgia’s coast is quite beautiful but it’s alsost hard to believe how quickly the landscape changes when you arrive in the mountains in the Northern part of Georiga. The town of Alpine Helen is a unique treasure that would certainly surprise someone who came across it without knowing where they were headed. I hope you get a chance to take a scenic detour towards the mountains on your next “east coast” trip!

There are so many exciting places to choose from. I love the townhouses and the Chattahoochee Chalet also the lodge. My family, brothers and cousins are scattered all over the world and we plan vacations to meet for at least a week. The Georgia selection would be a good area to check out a little more closely. I love the facilities that are in the area, and the access to the river. I am sure they would enjoy it,. Thanks for introducing me to this area.

    • Alyce says:

Hi JJ, A vacation rental house in Helen is the ideal choice for spending holiday time with a large group or family. Enjoy your trip!

I am German and have been looking at choices for a good Oktober Fest.  There just are too many.  All say they are good, but are usually small and not authentic.  The one in Helen piques my interest.  So I am going to look at all the places to stay that you mention are good choices.  I will go from there.  Thank you!

    • Alyce says:

The town of Helen GA has been working on its Alpine charm for decades, and in its 50th year celebrating Oktoberfest, the town is excited to share its authentic celebration experience. Be sure to book your place to stay as early as possible as Helen is a popular Oktoberfest destination and the town always sells out of rooms on busy Oktoberfest weekends!

Oh wow this is a very comprehensive post on the best places to stay in Helen. I’m personally interested in staying at the Biscuit Inn because it is just so cute and I only travel if my dog can come with me (at least within the states). Thanks for letting us know that there is a minimum of 2 nights stay, guess it’s very popular?

    • Alyce says:

Hi Sunquan, The Biscuit Inn is indeed a popular choice with dog owners and the “gourmutt” dog treats they provide are sure to make it a dog favorite too!
