Corn Mazes in North Georgia Mountains

Corn Mazes in North Georgia Mountains

These seasonal attractions are only open for a limited time which generally runs from around Labor Day through Thanksgiving weekend. The attractions are fun outings for families, date night, or a friendly competition to see which of your friends can get through the corn maze with the fastest time.

Keep in mind that the corn mazes will be more challenging early in the season when the corn stalks are fuller and greener. The corn stalks will thin out a bit over time, allowing guests the ability to see through them somewhat for a slightly easier maze.

Tips for Going Through Corn Mazes

Each corn maze is a little different and offers an exciting way to test your navigational skills. Use these tips to make sure you have the best time on your journey!

  • Wear comfortable clothing that is appropriate for local outdoor weather conditions – as Fall weather can vary from hot and dry to cold and wet, you want to make sure you dress for the appropriate weather of the day you’ll be wandering through the maze
  • Wear shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty – keep in mind that you will be walking through a cornfield, and if it has rained recently, could be muddy
  • Take a bottle of water – some of the local corn mazes have about 4 miles of trails so be sure that each person carries a bottle of water to stay hydrated
  • Get a corn maze map before you go into the maze – this could help you find your way around the labyrinth of trail options
  • Time yourself – if your group splits up consider having a friendly competition to see who can get through the maze the fastest
  • Make note of landmarks – there may be a few distinct checkpoints along the way to help you stay oriented inside the maze
  • Use the bathroom before starting the maze – you may be walking for a while so make sure you visit the restroom before

What to Take Through Corn Maze

In addition to keeping the tips above in mind, it may be helpful to include these items on your trip to the corn maze.

  • Water bottle – stay hydrated with water or another hydrating drink
  • Sunscreen – keep sunscreen handy to protect yourself from sun exposure
  • Compass –  stay oriented with a quality compass
  • Bug spray – stay comfortable when outside in nature

Many thanks for this valuable and detailed post about corn mazes in north georgia. I have heard that North Georgia is a very beautiful part of the USA, but this corn maze is very interesting. I have never experienced anything like this before. After reading your post, I really wanted to have a similar experience. I think I’ll start with a daytime corn maze instead of the haunted ones at night!

    • Alyce says:

Hi Pasindu! The corn mazes are usually challenging enough to make you feel like you accomplished something when you eventually make it out. They are fun, but you should expect to spend a good amount of time walking through the rows of tall cornstalks. It is a really unique experience though – truly not much else is like it and it’s only available during late summer / early fall. I hope you enjoy it!

    Hey there!

Corn mazes are so cool! And talk about starting the best season off the right way! Although I love spring and summer, there’s something about Fall after a long dry summer to really get you in the mood for winter.

We have a few corn mazes that happen around October, but I cant help but be creeped out by them! I’ve seen far too many scary movies with corn mazes! haha.

However, you’ve done a great job laying out all the options and times available to visit. I hope some people take advantage of a very season activity and get their families out for some enjoyment.

Have you been through a corn maze before?

    Talk soon,

    -B

    • Alyce says:

Hi Brooke, I have been through a corn maze with my parents and I thought the whole thing was such a neat idea! It was definitely challenging enough to keep things interesting. We had many laughs from all the times and ways we’d find the exact same dead-end spot. I highly recommend this fun fall activity!

  3. Sariyah says:

Hey thanks for this article! It contains a lot and I mean a lot of useful information. I like how you also included the contact details and everything basically that we need to know to attend, that way I don’t have to go from page to page to get info.

I’ve always found mazes fun to solve but for some reason haven’t being in one. I would love to take part in a real lif maze. Do you think there is any available in the UK or do any of these companies own a business in other countries?

    • Alyce says:

Hi Sariyah, Thanks for checking in from the UK! The owners of the corn mazes in North Georgia are generally smaller companies that focus on their local operations.

That said, I have visited corn mazes in other parts of the southeastern USA, so they definitely exist elsewhere. If you are interested in testing your puzzle-solving skills in a corn maze, I would recommend asking around in your local area to see what is available this fall. Best of luck!

Thank you so much, Alyce. Farmers markets, such as those at Matakana Wine Vineyard and other locations on the east coast of New Zealand’s North Island, are favourites of mine. We have cornfields in New Zealand similar to those in North Georgia, although not on the same scale. The Hillcrest apple orchards seem interesting. The apples would be crisp and cold, and I’d expect them to be organic and juicy rather than floury and bland. I’ve never heard of racing through a corn maze as a tourist attraction, but it seems like a lot of fun, especially since I just saw the horror film 1922. It would be interesting to watch the hunted hayride.

    • Alyce says:

Hello in New Zealand! The local corn maze attractions are a fun way to get lost in a cornfield in a controlled way. It’s definitely common for groups of friends to have a little friendly competition to see who can get through the maze the fastest.

Hi there! Thank you very much for sharing this article on corn maizes in North Georgia.

Corn mazes are beautiful! It is very clear to me that there are a lot of great places to try out the corn mazes in North Georgia, even if there are not as many this year due to COVID. I haven’t had the pleasure of visiting one yet but they’re always so lovely in pictures and movies. I’ll try to find time to visit an open one this year, thank you.

  6. philebur says:

Hi there thanks for sharing this interesting review and update on the north georgia corn mazes. They are indeed great places to visit and probably perfect to go right now (before it gets too cool outside). There’s a whole lot of experiences to be shared with family in a corn maze (strategizing, planning, and executing a way out!). Although I haven’t been to all of these yet, I’m enjoying reading about the options and planning a trip!

    • Alyce says:

The weather is perfect outside right now and corn mazes are a great excuse to wander around outside and take in some fresh air!

  7. ReeceMichael says:

Travelling to places and knowing what to expect is always a good thing. Thanks for this info — I definitely learned a few things that I hadn’t thought about before. Corn mazes are so much fun and sometimes it is the unique family activity that is the highlight of the whole trip!

I appreciate the update for 2020 — it’s been a wild year but this seems like a great outdoor activity while it’s still nice outside.

    • Alyce says:

I agree that we need to take full advantage of these days of perfect weather that we’re having and be outside. Enjoy!

  8. Matiss says:

Dammit, I want this global pandemic Covid thing to end so bad. The sooner the better. I’m desperately missing all the traveling and exploring awesome and purely fascinating places. On that note, I’m really looking forward to visit places like corn mazes. That haunted one at “The Dark Rows” got me really excited. Going to have to leave the children at home, haha, and drag my wife there. Love the no flashlight rule. 🙂

For stuff with small kids, it’s probably the second one. I bet they will really love the pet farm. And swimming pig races sound like something I’ve never seen nor experienced, haha. Should be real fun.

Also, I appreciate all the corn maze tips there at the end. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. <3

  9. CadenceTone says:

Ever since the uprising of franchises and the high demands to consistently meet customer demands, the maize industry tremendously saw a rise in productivity because it helps livestock to mature at a reduced waiting time. After watching the documentary Food Inc, maize really grasped my interest. Great to have come across the article listing maize attraction sites. I would really love to engage with the farmers and get insightful theories behind maize farming. Nice listing.

  10. Collins says:

I’m really a fan of sight seeing, and this really caught my attention, I liked Uncle shucks, I love the fact that there are side attractions, and it is very affordable. I have gone to somewhere like this once, but this one seems better, their ratings are also very high on the social media platforms. I am definitely visiting soon.

  11. Trevor says:

What a beautiful location you have highlighted here.  I had no idea that the Georgia mountains were so beautiful in the Fall. I chuckled to myself when you described how one could test one’s navigation and problem solving skills in one of the corn mazes.  Now that must be fun! & how creative! I have to say, the activities and beauty that you have shown here, has me wanting to jump into my car to experience some of those marshmallows and festival food at Uncle Shucks. Hillcrest Orchards also looks great.  I see the locations have Covid 19 checks too, that is great.  Can you recommend places to stay?

  12. DarmiMaddie says:

Quite the period for the maizes and corns and seeing you have put up the post to suit the period, it makes much sense to me. I really like all you have simplified here and honestly, it makes a lot of sense and all to see in here. Really great one and I value this well enough. Thank you so much for sharing with us all

Thanks for sharing this informative article, it came at the exact right time, I was considering a treat for my wife and my girls and i think Corn maze will be a really good idea. I’ll make sure I show my girls this article so they’ll choose form the locations of mazes here. I love establishments that engage in charity work and to here that the ticket is to be donated is appealing. Thanks.

    • Alyce says:

I agree that it’s a great practice to be able to do something for a charitable organization. Having fun while doing good makes the fun activity even better!

Visiting a corn maze with friends is a great way to spend an afternoon (or nighttime haunted maze!). Depending on your friends’ competitive nature, you may enjoy splitting into groups and competing to see who can finish the maze first and earn some bragging rights! 🙂

  16. alexandra says:

I have actually never been through a corn maze, we do not really have corn mazes where I live but this sure looks like a lot of fun and it looks like something good to do with your family.

I found it very helpful that you have provided some tips for going through a corn maze, for someone like me that has never even seen one this is a great way to know what to be prepared for and little things to think about, before perhaps, getting lost in one.

Thank you for the information you have provided on the subject of corn mazes in North GA, I truly wish I could go.

    • Alyce says:

Hi Alexandra, They are a lot of fun and definitely a challenge. If you can’t make it this year, keep in mind that they are generally open each year in the fall or right after the Labor Day holiday.

  17. jpaliskis says:

    Hello,

What an informative article! My daughter and her family  ( me too) live in the Middle GA! It is a perfect chance to visit corn mazes for adults and kids or wagon ride. When we used to live in the Chicago area, we used to go to the pumpkin farm, but we never been to the corn maze. Isn’t scared a bit to get lost?

I like the idea that at the Corn Maze places a lot of activities for the kids and adults. I love the tips you wrote.

Thank you for the excellent post!

    • Alyce says:

Feeling a little bit lost is part of the excitement of a corn maze… the walls are high and you cannot easily see which way will lead to the exit, but all of that just adds to the fun and the sense of accomplishment at the end of the maze! 🙂

  18. Riaz Shah says:

Corn mazes are beautiful! I haven’t had the pleasure of visiting one yet but they’re always so lovely in pictures and movies but I have wondered about the getting lost part though since they are tall. If people get lost inside it, how do we know how to get out? I could imagine one person runs north and another runs south thinking they’re heading to the same location like in the movies 😀

    • Alyce says:

Each corn maze has it’s own system of making sure that everyone gets out of the maze and doesnt’ become lost. Some include tall flags to signal that the staff, others have staff inside the maze, while others build in a few exits for anyone who gets too frustrated and needs a break. Each one is different, but it’s a great question to ask before you enter the maze!

  19. Petra says:

Oh wow, I didn’t know you could do this! It sure sounds like a lot of fun, especially the haunt nights! Sign me up! Would be great for the whole family and friends, I’m sure.

Something to do for the weekends in September and October that doesn’t involve screens, thank you!

I still have fond memories of walking through corn fields back in the day. There was never such a thing as a maze though. Great idea!

    • Alyce says:

Hi Petra, The corn mazes are a really unique activity. The corn stalks are huge and it’s great to be able to walk around in them. I haven’t tried a haunted maze yet, but it sounds like a lot of fun, so that one is definitely next on my list!

  20. Rodarrick says:

The only viable option for me to get access to all these corn mazes in north Georgia is when I travel to visit my wife’s mom. She stays around there and that would make it a worthy travelling just to have a peep at the place. Great suggestions of the places to get the corn mazes. Maybe I’d suggest this to her first so she can check them out first before we travelled over too. Thanks
