I love the look of cabins. And i want to go here now! they look great. What is the cheapest one I could stay at? I think i love the idea of living here but as it says in the title. it’s only rentals, Which Cabin is the best to stay in? Here in Orlando we have a place called Camp Ocala and they have cabins but we don’t have the views like this post shows.

    Thanks for the great post!

    • Alyce says:

The Former 19th Century Schoolhouse / Cottage has the lowest average cost per night. However, if you have a large group, it may be more economical to split a big rental with your group and spend more time together!

  3. Jessie says:

Thank you so much for this awesome post!  I plan on visiting every state in the United States and Georgia is on that list to see eventually.  I really like some of the things you have put up on the site here.  The schoolhouse is something I would definitely rent out!  So much history in that I believe and the fact I can bring my animal helps a lot too!

    • Alyce says:

Hi Jessie, Best of luck to you as you visit each state! I was able to see my 50th state (Alaska) about 5 years ago and I can definitely recommend the journey as a worthwhile life goal.

You do an amazing job with all the specifics (i.e. minimum age requirements, prohibited activities, target audience, etc.) to help me start planning the trip in my head. How fun to stay at a place with some history!

  7. Rick Hanna says:

I have only been to Georgia once several years ago to attend a company function. I would love to go again once international travel resumes. These places are absolutely beautiful. For me, the smaller private cabins are more appealing. I would love to know more about activities, tours, museums in the area. I don’t like to be bored and shopping is not my thing so any info would be awesome. I love being in nature so hiking trails are always fun. The countryside looks pretty much the same as in Canada but sunnier than is usual for our province of New Brunswick. What is the local food like? I mean are there particular dishes I may not have tried before? Hopefully, travel will resume soon so I can visit.

    • Alyce says:

Hi Rick, There are lots of great activities of all types in the area. There are permanent museums, exhibits, and ongoing local events held throughout the year. You’ll find plenty of fun things to do!

For food, the South prides itself on its barbecue, so be sure to try a local BBQ place near where you stay.

Things definitely look a bit different this year due to COVID, but hopefully, everything can be fully opened soon!

  8. Sunny says:

I absolutely loved this article on historic vacation rentals in North Georgia. All the places look amazing, and nature and the river view. What is close to this place? And are there some sightseen options available? Is this somewhere in the mountains? Sorry, I have never been to Georgia and would like to so I am asking too many questions 🙂

    Thanks for your response.

    • Alyce says:

Hi Sunny, Your questions are all welcome! There are many kinds of different things to see and ways to spend your time in North Georgia — it all depends on what you enjoy. These historic rentals in the Georgia mountains are close to great parks, vineyards, breweries, museums, local shops, and more!

  9. Michael says:

I love historical places, and these cabins are really nice. I’m only 5,000 miles away in the Philippines. If I ever vacation again in the US, I’ll be sure to come to Georgia. I’ve been living in other countries for five years now and love it.

The 1929 Caboose looks like a fantastic place to stay. I would love that. Hopefully, there’s a place to fish nearby. There’s not much fishing going on in other countries like the US.

    • Alyce says:

Hi Michael, thanks for sharing. Living in a different country can be very exciting! There are definitely lots of great places to fish in the Georgia mountains so be sure to bring your fishing gear on your next trip!

  10. Boi says:

Oh wow. I really do miss vacations. I always travel for vacation with my family at least once a year. In good years we do travel twice if not three times. Our last vacation travel was in December 2019. We had planned to travel mid year 2020 but we could not because of the Covid-19 pandemic. I believe once the disease burden has gone down, my holiday vacation should be in North Georgia mountains. The place look great and the historic cabins are a wow. My personal preference should be the Barn at Lake Rabun. My family would love it

    • Alyce says:

Hello Boi, You are right that a lot of us are far overdue for a vacation! The Barn at Lake Rabun is a stunning location for spending quality vacation time with the family.

  11. Ann says:

I really liked the cabins over there at Clayton. And it would be exciting to stay in one of those over 100 years old. I have always felt this quaint mountain community has been very fortunate. I would also like to mention how nice their upscale clothing, home décor and accessory shops are.

    • Alyce says:

Thanks for sharing Ann! Clayton is a wonderful mountain town with some of the nicest shops and best views in the state. Staying overnight at these historic rental houses adds an element of authenticity to the experience!
