Thank you for recommending ” Boat Dock Bar & Grill restaurant” on your website. It’s a charming spot with a beautiful location. The view of Lake Blue Ridge was breathtaking, and the atmosphere was very inviting. The kitchen may be small, but the food hit the spot. The prices were reasonable, and the drinks were affordable. I particularly enjoyed the Hunch Punch; the weekly specials were a great addition to the menu.
I appreciated the dog-friendly policy and the option of takeout, and I was able to take my little Foufou with me; she’s my little child to me. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I will definitely recommend this restaurant and your website to others. Thank you for sharing such a gem with your audience.

    • Alyce says:

Tybee Island is a nice destination, but as it is a coastal Georgia destination, it is not located near any of the scenic North Georgia mountains. Thanks for sharing!

Incredible list I like having meals at restaurants on the beach or close on the water. These establishments really did offer amazing meals and wonderful dining experiences! I wish I could see your pictures but they’re not showing up.  Aside from that, I love local restaurants and especially ones that have a scenic, waterfront view.  And, to be honest, you had me a The Troll Tavern. A restaurant located under a bridge serving Roast Beast and Billy Goat Burgers?  I think this rates a special trip to Georgia!!

    • Alyce says:

Hi Cynthia, I’m so sorry to hear that you can’t see the photos (try refreshing your page, as things look good from this end). These restaurants provide very different views and experiences, from the lively riverfronts to the relaxed fine dining at Lake Chatuge. The Troll Tavern is a great place to enjoy a summer drink while people float by in the river on small rafts. Enjoy!

  15. JJ says:

Wow. What an exciting list of restaurants. The best thing about them is the location which allows you to check them out one by one when you are on vacation in the area. I find the whole idea of boating to a restaurant for dinner very romantic. I like most of them my preferences being the marinas, and the Cafe International. Thank you for this review. It is worth checking out for planning my group vacations.

Hello Mike! I certainly agree — the times I’ve been able to enjoy a boat ride on the way to dinner have made the meal and the night even more special.

  17. LineCowley says:

One of my favourite settings for a meal out, is next to water, with watching the ocean as my top one for feeling spoilt. I’ve never been to the Georgia mountains, and you have presented us with numerous exciting options. Having a table above the water would be my first choice here, and having a walk next to the water afterwards, would complete the outing for me in the best possible way.

    • Alyce says:

It is definitely nice to find a beautiful space to enjoy a meal, and these waterfront restaurants provide just that!

  18. Walt says:

Is is good to have easy access to information about making reservations and finding the waterfront restaurants that are closest to us. Do you have a favorite place that you go to a lot?

    • Alyce says:

  22. DarmiMaddie says:

The Georgia mountains are a very serene place that have a lot more than what people expect. I really like the place and how beautiful and awesome the relaxed pace of life is there. Seeing this here now too has given me a lot of great ideas of places to explore when there to visit my Hubby’s mom. Kudos!

    • Alyce says:

The mountains are full of beautiful places to explore, and the waterfront restaurants in the mountains are a great way to sit back and enjoy the natural beauty while you have a meal!

  23. Justin says:

Hello there, I’ve been thinking of going to the Georgia mountains for a while now, but figured we would be staying in a cabin and preparing all of our own meals. It’s nice to see all of these options for waterfront (and outdoor) restaurants to provide a change of pace and some gourmet dining options. Thanks for sharing this list. The map is very helpful too as we plan to explore as much as we can of the North Georgia area, and it will be helpful to look on the map to see if we are nearby any waterfront restaurants!

    • Alyce says:

      Hi Justin,

I’m so glad to hear that you have found this article on waterfront restaurants in the Georgia mountains to be useful. Some of these restaurants are a bit off of the beaten path, so the map should be helpful for those days when you want to stop for a bite to eat on your way to (or from) somewhere else.

  24. Mahasin1 says:

Who would have knew the Appalachian mountains had such wonderful sights and places to dine. Your lay out of the various places a person can go to for enjoyment was good. I especially like that you added the map of the places in a real time manner. How were you able to incorporate that feature?

    • Alyce says:

Hi Mahasin1, I’m happy to hear that you have found the map feature to be useful. I am able to acheive these custom maps using a wordpress plugin called Hero Maps.

  25. DorcasW says:

Hello; Wow! I always find the Georgia Mountains Resorts interesting, but the collection of Waterfront Restaurants and bars come to me now as a bonus. Although it is hard for me to make a choice I finally decide on making it to Milton Park at Lake Burton. The scenery at this specific waterfront caught my interest greatly. I hope I can make it before Winter.

It’s great that there are so many different restaurants on the water to choose from in the Georgia mountains! I’d recommend that you try the ones that are closest to you first, then venture out for a scenic drive if you have enough time to keep exploring.

  26. Mikhail says:

Growing up on the west coast, the east coast is quite foreign to me. Now, if I ever want to visit the east coast, a waterfront restaurant could definitely be a place I could visit. Thanks to your post, I now know about a few more places of interest I didn’t even know existed. I should bookmark your post so in case I’m ever in Georgia, I know where to go. The pictures are amazing by the way.

    • Alyce says:

It’s true that the East and West coasts are quite different, but they both offer natural beauty, rich history, and tons of wonderful places to explore. I’m glad you enjoy the photos and hopefully you’ll be able to experience the scenery yourself one day!

  27. Wilson says:

Great list! I’m from Alabama and travel to Georgia all the time! Next time I’m going to be around one of these spots I’ll have to check them out! I actually think that I will be around Helen and go try out the International Cafe!

    • Alyce says:

Thanks Wilson! I’m so happy to hear that you enjoy the Georgia mountains so much and that you keep returning to the area!! It’s a beautiful area and these waterfront restaurants are the perfect spot to enjoy scenery with a great meal.

My cousin had given me news about the wonderful enjoyment he had in the Georgia mountains last year at Chophouse of la Prade. I would love to witness it myself. It won’t be anytime than this year, but God’s willing it will be soon. I love exploring nature and it has been so helpful for my mental relief. I came across details about Georgia mountains from this website before I heard from my cousin too. All the Riverside restaurant in here are eye catching and am very sure they will be a superb place to explore.

  29. chrisJ says:

Well, I’m just about ready to book a trip to the Georgia Mountains today. The Villa Della Luna looks enchanting. You’ve compiled such a great list. Have you personally been to any particular resort that you recommend first? Georgia has always been one of my go to places for time away from my daily life. I did not realize that there were tree house rentals, how awesome?! I find the idea to be stellar, it must be very peaceful.

Hi Chris, My recommendation would depend on what you are most looking for during your trip to the Georgia mountains.

Personally, I really enjoy the cabins between Blue Ridge and Blairsville for their sunset and mountain views. Staying in Dahlonega at Park Place Hotel is great because you can walk around to so many things. Staying at a vineyard is gorgeous and provides a place to taste some great local flavors. The treehouses are so unique, and they are a great option for when you really want to feel like you are “getting away” from life’s busy bustle. It’s hard to choose a single favorite… it all depends on the setting you prefer!

What an awesome collection of dining options for anyone researching into their next holiday in the Georgia Mountains. I also love that you’ve mentioned you need to call ahead to make sure the restaurant will be open. It makes sense though when some of these places run during peak holiday season. Seeing the wide range of options while also showing what’s available in each area gives travellers and diners options they would not have thought of going. There’s some gorgeous places listed here. I’ll be sure to bookmark this post and check this list out when I plan my next holiday to Georgia Mountains. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Alyce. Hopefully I’ll be able to visit some of the magnificent restaurants and site you mention in your article. I have never been to the USA let alone Georgia. But I am planning a lengthy trip there in 2020. My wife and I intend to visit as many areas of the states as we can and the Georgia region is one of them. I will definitely being taking notes from your website and planning the trip around as many of the food venues mentioned as we are able to. The cool mountain streams you have shown us look very inviting. Thank you for this great blog. Jim

Thanks for the compliments Jim! I have been to all 50 states and I admire your goal of seeing as many as you can. All 50 states have something beautiful to offer and each area of the country can have it’s own character. I hope you and your wife have a fantastic trip to the USA and if you need more info on the Georgia mountains area, be sure to reach out!

Oh there are sure a lot of unique dining places in Georgia. I can’t go there this year due to my plan in other country, but I will check it again for next year. From the above restaurants, is there anything that you can recommend for vegetarian? Half of my family is vegetarian (and picky eaters). Thank you in advance for your answer

    • Alyce says:

Hi, that is a great question. Vegetarians should be able to find many options at most of the nicer restaurants above (vegetarians wouldn’t enjoy the BBQ places), but know that vegans may find it much more challenging in these small towns.

While they all sound great, I actually love Mexican and seafood. I see two that have already caught my attention. Hopefully one day I will visit Georgia and get to try out these different restaurants. This is a fantastic and extensive list of different places to dine.

Thanks for heads up for foreign travelers.

There are some great seafood places in the mountains that are able to get local fresh fish (freshwater), so you’ll definitely enjoy some great meals on your trip!
